Refer a Friend Programs

These are some of my favorite Refer a Friend programs- the concept is the same with all of them, you sign up and get a unique URL to use to refer friends to the site in order to earn anything from products to gift cards. *No purchase is required for any of these programs.

*For RedBox fans.. until March 17th you can earn free rentals by referring friends. Details here.

Inspired Silver: On this program you refer friends for points, and can redeem points at different levels to earn free jewelry.
You can start redeeming points at 10, meaning you normally need to have referred 10 friends. This weekend (3/4-3/6) you get double points per friend- meaning you only need to refer 5 for your first reward.

Shopittome is another awesome program. Instead of products, you refer friends for giftcards to stores like Old Navy, Gap, Itunes, Macy's, Whole Foods and more. Ten friends will earn you a $10 gift card- and neither you or your friends need to ever make a purchase!

Search & Win Swagbucks isn't exactly a referral program, but you can refer friends to earn extra swagbucks. I installed the toolbar in FireFox and have switched to using the search rather than Google earning me more points. I tend to be too busy to play the games/surveys that can get you extra swagbucks- but I've still be able to earn enough bucks that I'm redeeming them for Amazon Gift cards and saving for Christmas shopping this year!

CrowdtapThis is a interesting Beta program, currently working with brands like Old Navy. You earn points for answering simple questions about brands, and you also earn dollars for random rewards. The "refer" part of this is that you earn $5 for every 5 friends you refer, and can request your payment at $10. *But this program promises an extra benefit- you also will get chances to sample brands/products (Old Navy just "sampled" some of their new spring collection to members) for free.

Candles, Rings, Oh my!

For those not yet following us on Facebook (what are you waiting for?) I wanted to share this with you. One of my FAVORITE pages on FB is Diamond Candles. The concept is simple- an all natural soy based candle (I recommend the Cinnamon Tea!) with a surprise in every candle- a ring worth $10, $100, $1000 or $5000! Its the perfect present (for yourself or someone else).

Anyway, I received my candle today, and tried to wait for the wax to burn off enough that I could find my ring. I helped it out a little, by poking around the melted wax, but the candle is as much as of a prize as the ring so I didn't want to mess it up (the smell is a perfect blend of cinnamon, without being overwhelming and still strong enough I could smell it the next room over slightly).

I made a short video of my adventures in discovering my ring, so here it is:
And, because I may of gotten a bit too excited and managed to get a little wax through and onto the ring, here's a pic of the ring, cleaned up- its BEAUTIFUL! And for the record, my candle- still burning and smelling very yummy!

Purex Complete Crystals

Check out our Facebook Page for details on your chance to win a FREE Full Size Purex Complete Crystals!

As a member of Purex Insiders, I was lucky to receive a box from them today with a sample of their new Purex Complete Crystals. I was actually double lucky- first because they sent it to me, and second because it managed to make it's way here even after the delivery man had some minor confusion on which house he should pick to deliver to.

Now, I will be the first to admit, doing laundry isn't my favorite chore. And with storms that came through last night leaving most homes in our area with "basement swimming pools" I had been hoping to avoid spending time in my now damn (but standing water-less) basement. But.. with sample in hand, and a pile of clothes begging to be washed- I headed down.

Before I get into the details of my adventure in laundry today- I want to mention a few facts from Purex about their Complete Crystals:

Purex Complete Crystals Softeners are 92% natural, and are not oil-based like most liquid softeners.

Purex Complete Crystals is the FIRST major fabric softener that is 100% safe to use on children's sleepwear as it does not impair their flame retardant qualities.

Purex Complete Crystals does not inhibit wicking fabrics, making it safe to use on all of your active and athletic wear.

Now, as much as I love all the facts- I'm going to admit, I want great smelling, soft clothes at a good price. Which brings me back to my Purex Crystals Experience.

There it was, a pile of clothes pulled out from under beds, inside desk drawers, on top of dressers and behind doors in my boys' room, with the wicked smell of 12 year old sweaty feet in one hand and my sample of Purex Complete Crystals in the other. The bottle showed small lines to tell me how much to use per load. I had to wonder if the small amount would handle just a stinky task. The instructions said to add it in the load at the start of the load, rather than waiting just for the rinse cycle, so I did.

The scent of the Purex Complete Crystals, wasn't overwhelming. It was fresh, soft and certainly a welcomed smell. I ran the load as I normally do, except without having to add in softener in the middle of washing- reducing the need for me to make that extra run downstairs. The biggest discovery came when I finally pulled them out of the dryer- the very first thing you notice is the light, clean smell. It's not over-perfumed, or chemically- you can definitely smell the difference but it doesn't have that "a bit too much" smell to it that has previously left my boys complaining that they smell like a flower shop. After getting past the new refreshing scent... I pulled them out. They were soft, (which is a major issue as we have hard water here) but they didn't have a heavy oil feel to them that sometimes takes away from "just washed, clean feeling" laundry should have.

I am going to admit, I love it. Maybe a little too much, because after tossing another load into the washer and adding in my Purex Complete Crystals, I ran down to Rite Aid and picked up the last two Lavender Blossom bottles. Sadly, our Rite-Aid was out of the other two scents: Fresh Spring Waters and Tropical Splash, but I will certainly be picking some up as soon as they are back in stock.

Now, here's the deal for you all. First, as most of you know- Purex is a great brand, AND always a great value. But right now, you can get a even better value on them. Rite-Aid Video Values has a $1/1 Printable Coupon available, which can be stacked with the Purex Complete Crystals coupon available on the Purex  page.

If only I COULD be abducted by aliens!

SocialMom's put the question out there, and here I am trying to answer it: What are the top ten things you think your kids would miss most about you if you were abducted by aliens/Martians?

I thought about this for a while, before doubling checking the answers I had, with the answers my kids had. It seems, I had it ALL wrong, despite my efforts to be realistic about what they would miss most. For the sake of my sanity- I'll post my list first.

I really thought my kids would miss my cooking. However, it turns out that they really would prefer fast food over my special meals- and desert from Dairy Queen ranks much higher than my ever changing in search of the perfect recipe chocolate chip cookies.

Number two on my list of ten I was positive was a "sure thing"... yet somehow the kids don't quite understand my humor: "Go clean your room, before that pile of clothes comes to life and devours the XBox in your sleep" did not get any rewards for funniest comment ever.

Maybe the first two were duds, but there was hope that my love of a good deal would certainly be the ticket to what the kids would miss. The oldest child, a girl was *okay* with the piles of coupons we sort through every week, but neither of the boys were even remotely delighted by endless shopping trips regardless of how much money I saved.

Other "failures" on my list included: Relentless double checking of homework, successfully completing the countdown until the school bus arrives without too many tardy mornings, my great ability to delegate house chores, being able to give the boys the perfect buzz cut each summer, and spotting a "fib" on demand.

Clearly, it's a good thing I didn't put "predicting my kids response to silly questions" as one of my answers, because their top ten things aren't even close to what I had hoped for.

Their list:
1. That I let them play the Xbox so often.
2. I'm "pretty nice" most of the time.
3. That I can doodle pretty good.
4. Getting to laugh about how awful I am at certain Wii games.
5. My ability to convince their dad to do things.
6. How sometimes, I will just walk past their room and shut the door rather than make them clean it.
7. I'm "one of the few adults that know how to use the internet right"- I should mention I happen to play A LOT of games online.
8. That I insist they are smarter than everyone else.
9. That I am not always the most "adult like" person they know. (Think maturity level)

10. And, most of all they'd miss... well to be honest not one of them could think of a 10th thing to miss. Instead the conversation drifted into talking about how great I MUST be because I gave birth to THEM. And from there, they started talking about just how great THEY are.... I finally gave up and left the room, retreating back into my office and hoping that maybe, one day I WILL be abducted... and perhaps then they could see the awesomeness of MY list over theirs.
